VaLe Tsukishima
A moment to unwind in the city.
Set inside a renovated traditional house in Tsukishima, VaLe Tsukishima pairs Spanish natural wines and sherry with tapas like Tsukuda-simmered conger eel and Manchego cheese.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Tucked into a quiet alley just off Tsukishima's bustling monjayaki strip, VaLe Tsukishima is an intimate wine bar set inside a renovated traditional house. The ground-floor counter features warm, pleasant woodwork and carries a calm atmosphere that makes dropping in on your own effortless.
The owner sources Spanish reds directly from local wineries, serving bottles poured by the glass at their peak, with recommendations ranging from lighter expressions to richer, full-bodied pours to suit your preference. Diners can begin with fine-bubbled sparkling wine, settle into an aromatic white with a lingering finish, or opt for a crisp rosé, making it easy to sample different styles across the evening. The bar also curates a substantial lineup of sherry, offering fortified profiles that balance deep, spirit-like warmth with rich fruit notes.
Alongside classic bites imported directly from Spain, the tapas menu incorporates local touches unique to Tokyo's shitamachi, such as simmered conger eel tsukudani prepared in neighboring Tsukuda. The rich, sweet-savory glaze of the tsukudani stands up well to robust red wine, weaving a taste of regional culinary memory into the wine bar setting. From savory, aromatic Manchego cheese made with sheep's milk to an affogato dessert that pours sherry over ice cream, the offerings are structured to echo the wines through the very last bite.
The two floors adapt readily to your plans, whether you are dropping by for a single drink at the downstairs counter or opening a bottle with company around the sofa seating upstairs. It serves equally well as a peaceful destination when you want to extend the evening over one final glass after dinner.
